Best ISTQB CT-AI Practice Tests in 2026

Most CT-AI question packs on sale in 2026 were written for a syllabus that is no longer examined. Eight sources ranked, with what each one actually publishes about itself.

ISTQB replaced the CT-AI syllabus on 17 April 2026, and the practice-test market has not caught up. Version 2.0 cut eleven chapters down to seven, moved everything about using AI in your own testing work out to a different certification, and changed the paper from 47 points to 44. A question pack written for v1.0 still sells, still says 2026 in its title, and still asks you about material you will not be examined on. This list ranks eight places to practise. Every line about a provider comes from that provider's own public pages, checked on 26 October 2026.

What a CT-AI practice test has to match in 2026

The official format is fixed and short: 40 questions, 44 points, 29 points to pass, 60 minutes, plus a 25% extension to 75 minutes if you are sitting in a language that is not your own. The pass mark is counted in points, not in questions. Four K3 questions are worth two points each and the remaining 36 are worth one, which is why 65% of the paper is 29 of 44 rather than 26 of 40. Any set that tells you the threshold is 26 correct answers is scoring a different exam.

Those numbers give five checks that take about a minute each on a provider's own pages:

  • Does it name the syllabus version with its number, not just CT-AI?

  • Does it run a full 40 questions against a 60-minute clock, or only short topic quizzes?

  • Is there a written rationale on every option, or only on the key?

  • Can you use it without paying and without an account?

  • Does it exist in the language you will sit the exam in?

Table comparing ISTQB CT-AI v1.0 and v2.0: 11 chapters to 7, 47 points to 44, 31 points to pass to 29

The reshuffle itself is covered in what changed in the CT-AI v2.0 syllabus, and the per-chapter question counts are in the CT-AI v2.0 chapter map. The short version for choosing a practice set: input data testing and model testing are now chapters of their own and carry 17 of the 44 points between them. A v1.0 bank barely touches either.

1. ExamCaliber

Five full mocks for CT-AI v2.0, each of them 40 questions against a 60-minute clock at the 65% line, so a run costs you exactly what the real sitting costs. Every option in all 200 questions carries a written rationale, not just the correct one, and the questions-and-answers page for mock 1 shows the whole set with those rationales laid out for revision rather than as a timed run.

All five mocks exist in English, German and Spanish, which no other source on this list confirms for CT-AI. Nothing sits behind a sign-up, a card or a trial. Across the five papers, model testing, input data testing and functional performance metrics together take 16 or 17 of the 40 questions, which tracks where v2.0 puts its weight rather than where the old syllabus did. Between 6 and 13 questions per mock are scenario items rather than definition recall.

What the mocks do not reproduce: they score flat at 65% of the questions rather than the weighted 29 of 44 points, so read your percentage as a guide to readiness and not as an exact conversion of the official scale. Start with mock 1, or read the CT-AI how-to-pass page first if you have not fixed a study order yet.

2. The official ISTQB sample exam

ISTQB publishes its own sample exam for v2.0, and the answer document is the most useful single artefact in CT-AI preparation. Set A, answers version 2.2, holds 40 questions and gives a justification for every option together with the question's K-level, its learning objective reference and its point value. No commercial set tells you which learning objective a question came from. It is free, it is English only, and there is one of it, so you can only sit it once. The answer set is published through ATSQA, and the questions sit alongside the syllabus on the ISTQB CT-AI certification page. Save it for the last week.

3. The isqi online mock exam

isqi is an ISTQB member board and an exam provider, so its mock is closer to the delivery platform than most. Its CT-AI mock page states 40 multiple-choice questions, a 60-minute limit, a 65% pass mark and no negative marking, which are the right numbers. What the page does not state is the syllabus version the questions were written to, whether explanations are shown afterwards, how many attempts you get, or the price. For a paid product those four silences are the thing to weigh.

4. Mock Exam Network

The largest free CT-AI bank among the sources checked: 1,035 questions, chapter practice alongside full-length mocks, no sign-up required, and justifications stated for every answer. Its CT-AI guide gets the v2.0 numbers right, including the seven chapters, the 44 points and the four two-point K3 questions, which is more than most pages manage. The site reports four languages across the platform but does not say which of them apply to CT-AI. If what you want is sheer volume of English practice on top of a full-length set, this is where it is.

5. istqb.guru

Its v2.0 page names the April 2026 release and gives the recommended instruction time chapter by chapter, which is genuinely useful for planning. The practice side is thinner: the v2.0 study materials are marked as coming soon and the only practice link is a general free beta rather than a CT-AI set. The page also prints 120 minutes as the exam duration. The real limit is 60 minutes, or 75 with the non-native extension, and it was 60 minutes under v1.0 as well, so this is not a stale number from the old syllabus. Practise to that clock and you will have rehearsed at half the pace the exam actually demands.

6. expandtesting

One free CT-AI item, listed as ISTQB CT-AI v2.0 Sample Exam 1. The version is named, which already puts it ahead of most paid packs, and it costs nothing. It is a single quiz and the page does not say how many questions it carries. The same site offers four CTFL quizzes and one each for CTFL-AT and CTAL-TA, so CT-AI is not where its depth is. Treat it as a warm-up rather than a programme.

7. Udemy question packs

A search in October 2026 returns a dozen CT-AI packs with titles promising 120, 200, 240, 340 and in one case 1,500 questions. The exam has 40. A bank of 1,500 for a seven-chapter syllabus is not depth; it is either padding or a pool recycled across syllabus versions and neighbouring certifications. Some titles name v2.0 and most do not, the course description is the only place to check, and whether the rationales exist at all is invisible until after you have paid. If you buy one, run the five checks above against the course description before you start, not after.

8. Comparison roundups

There is a page in the results that looks like the one you are reading: a roundup promising to compare the best CT-AI practice tests. Its comparison table lists Gururo, PMI Authorized, Brain Sensei, PMTraining, PMaspire and Udemy, and four of those sell project management training rather than anything to do with AI testing. Its exam box gives the pass mark as 26 of 40, which is neither v2.0 nor v1.0. Some of its headings still say Agile certification. It is a template with the subject swapped out, and it ranks. Nothing on a page like that has been checked against a syllabus, including the parts that happen to be correct.

What each source publishes, side by side

Matrix of eight ISTQB CT-AI practice-test sources against five published criteria, checked 26 October 2026

A question mark in that matrix is not an accusation. It means the provider's public page does not answer the question, and you would have to buy or register to find out. For something free that is a minor annoyance. For a paid product, a page that will not say which syllabus version its questions follow is telling you something.

Sequencing them in your last two weeks

  1. Week one, drill by chapter. Work out where the points are first, then spend the time there rather than evenly. Chapters 5 and 6 are 17 of the 44 points and did not exist as separate chapters before 2026.

  2. Sit one full 40-question mock against a 60-minute clock, in one sitting, without pausing to look anything up. The pace is the part most candidates have not rehearsed.

  3. Read every rationale afterwards, including on the questions you answered correctly. A right answer for the wrong reason fails the next time the distractor changes.

  4. Repeat with a second and a third full mock, a few days apart, and watch whether the same chapter keeps costing you points.

  5. In the final days, sit the official ISTQB sample exam once, under exam conditions, and work through the official justifications. Keep it until then, because you cannot sit it fresh twice.

Three numbers to check before you trust any CT-AI set

Forty questions, 44 points, 29 to pass, inside 60 minutes. If a provider's own exam box disagrees with any of those, the questions behind it were written against something other than the current syllabus, and no amount of volume compensates. The authoritative versions are on the ISTQB certification page, and the terms the questions use are defined in the ISTQB glossary.

For the wider market beyond CT-AI, we ran the same checks across twelve providers in the best ISTQB practice test sites. And if you are still deciding which AI certification you are preparing for at all, the material that left CT-AI in 2026 did not disappear; it moved, and CT-GenAI or CT-AI sorts out which of the two you actually want.

Frequently asked

How many questions is the ISTQB CT-AI exam?

Forty questions worth 44 points in total, with 29 points needed to pass and 60 minutes to sit it. Four of the questions are at K3 and carry two points each; the other 36 carry one.

Are there free CT-AI practice tests?

Yes. ExamCaliber's five full mocks, the official ISTQB sample exam set and the Mock Exam Network question bank are all usable without paying.

How do I tell whether a practice test is built on CT-AI v2.0?

The provider should name the version, not just say CT-AI. Then check the numbers: v2.0 is 44 points with 29 to pass, v1.0 was 47 with 31. A set that advertises 26 out of 40 is following neither.

Is CT-AI v1.0 still valid?

Exams on the v1.0 syllabus run in English until 21 April 2027 and in other languages until 21 October 2027. If you are starting your preparation now, prepare for v2.0.

How many practice exams should I take before CT-AI?

Three or four full 40-question runs against the real clock, with every rationale read afterwards, is enough for most candidates. Volume of unexplained questions is not what moves the score.
