Best ISTQB Practice Test Sites in 2026
Twelve ISTQB practice test sites, opened and read on 15 October 2026, with every stated pass mark and syllabus version checked against istqb.org. Three of the twelve print numbers that are simply wrong.
Twelve sites that offer ISTQB practice questions were opened and read on 15 October 2026. Every claim each one makes about a syllabus version, a question count or a pass mark was then checked against the certification pages on istqb.org. Three of the twelve print numbers that are wrong, and one of the three is among the best known names in the niche.
That is what separates this list from the usual one. Ranking practice sites by how many questions they advertise rewards whoever counts most generously. Ranking them by whether their own stated facts survive a check rewards the ones you can safely calibrate on.
How the sites were ranked
Seven things were checked on each site, all of them visible on the page rather than taken on trust:
a written rationale on every answer option, not only on the correct one;
full-length timed mocks, rather than a loose ten-question quiz;
a question mix per chapter that follows the Exam Structure Tables ISTQB publishes (CTFL puts eleven of its forty questions in chapter 4, so a mock that puts four there is not a mock);
the syllabus version named on the page, and that version being the current one;
coverage past Foundation level;
free access, ideally without an account;
questions written against the syllabus rather than collected from people who sat the exam.
The order below is editorial and ExamCaliber is our own site. Every statement about any site, ours included, is a figure you can open and check today.
What the fact check turned up
Guru99 tells you that you need a minimum of 20 marks to pass its 40-question mock. The ISTQB pass mark for CTFL v4.0 is 26 of 40. A candidate who calibrates on half the paper walks into the exam fifteen percentage points short of the bar.
certificationpractice.com runs its CT-AI practice exams at a 66 per cent passing score and its sample questions cite the CT-AI v1.0 syllabus. CT-AI is scored out of 44 points with 29 needed to pass, which is 65 per cent, and v2.0 has been the examinable version since 17 April 2026.
softwaretestinghelp.com opens by offering 120 sample question papers and links three of them, each 40 questions long.
Two more sites are imprecise rather than wrong. Mock Exam Network prints 42,260+ practice questions in the page and 18,000+ in its own title tag. open-exam-prep.com names the Foundation syllabus as CTFL v4, without the minor version that has been v4.0.1 since the 2024 errata.

1. ExamCaliber
Nine certifications, 45 full-length timed mocks and 1,845 questions, all free and all usable without an account. Every option in every question carries a written rationale, including the three you did not pick, which is the part that turns a wrong answer into a lesson. Questions are written by hand against the current syllabus rather than collected from candidates.
The chapter mix of each mock follows the Exam Structure Tables: a CTFL mock places 11 of its 40 questions in chapter 4, 9 in chapter 5 and 2 in chapter 6, which is the shape of the real paper. 536 of the 1,845 questions sit at K3 or above, so the applied questions that decide a result are not the ones left out. 64 questions carry a diagram: decision tables, state machines and control-flow graphs you have to read before you can answer.

Coverage runs past Foundation: CTAL-TM v3.0, CT-STE v1.0.1 and CT-GenAI v1.1 all have full mocks, as does the A4Q Selenium Tester syllabus. 26 of the 45 mocks are also published in German and Spanish. Start with CTFL mock 1 if you are sitting Foundation, or browse the full practice-test index.
2. The official ISTQB sample exams
Four sets for CTFL, not one: A and B at questions v1.7, C at v1.6 and D at v1.5, free to download from the CTFL v4.0 certification page. Most listicles still describe a single official sample exam, which has not been true for some time. The answers document justifies each option against a learning objective, so the wording is the closest thing to the real paper that exists.
The limits are obvious: there is no timer, no scoring and no second attempt once you have read them. Use them first, while they still surprise you.
3. iSQI “Test yourself”
A certification body running its own mock: roughly 40 CTFL 4.0 questions with in-depth explanations, free, but registration is required before you see them. The same site hosts separate mock pages for other exams, including Model-Based Tester, security testing and an Expert Level improving-test-process paper. Narrow, and worth the sign-up precisely because of who publishes it.
4. istqb.patshala.com
Eight full-length Foundation mocks plus six chapter-level tests, one Agile Tester mock and two Advanced Level tests, all free. It is one of the very few sites that names the Foundation syllabus as v4.0.1 rather than v4.0, a small thing that says somebody read the errata. Explanations are promised in the page metadata but not described on the page itself, so check before you rely on them.
5. open-exam-prep.com
Sixteen ISTQB exams and 1,840 questions by its own count: 200 for CTFL, 202 for CT-AI, 100 for CT-GenAI, 138 for CTAL-TA and 100 each for the remaining twelve. It adds study guides, flashcards, cheat sheets and an AI tutor whose credits are optionally paid. What the hub does not advertise is a full-length timed mock, or whether the answers come with explanations: this is a question bank, not an exam simulator, and the two train different things.
6. certificationpractice.com
Six CT-AI practice exams, 240 questions, 40 per exam, 60 minutes each, with explanations that also say why the other options fail. The format is right and the explanations are the good kind. The numbers around them are not: a 66 per cent pass line instead of 65, and sample questions still citing the v1.0 syllabus eighteen months after v2.0 became the examinable version. Use it for exposure, not for calibration.
7. istqb.expandtesting.com
Eight quizzes in all: four Foundation, two Agile Tester, one CTAL-TA v4.0 and one CT-AI v2.0, each available in English, French and Spanish, with no account required. Both syllabus versions it names are current, and the questions come with answers and explanations. It does not state how many questions each quiz holds. Small, but nothing on it is misleading.
8. Mock Exam Network
The widest catalogue anywhere: 27 ISTQB exams, including corners such as Finance Testing, Game Testing, Automotive Software Tester and Mobile Application Testing that nobody else touches. Timed full-length mocks, a detailed justification on every answer, a free tier that does not ask for a card, and a premium tier adding progress history, flashcards and an ad-free run whose price is not shown on the homepage. The breadth is real. The self-reported question count contradicts itself between the page and its own title, which is why it sits here rather than higher.
9. practicetestgeeks.com
Twenty-three quiz modules across Foundation and Advanced Level, free, with explanations, naming CTFL v4.0 and carrying an October 2026 update stamp. These are topic quizzes rather than full papers, which makes them useful for drilling one weak chapter and useless for rehearsing sixty minutes under the clock.
10. Guru99
Three mock tests of 40 questions each, one mark per question, updated on 10 October 2026 and delivered through external forms. There are no per-option explanations, no syllabus version anywhere on the page, and the pass threshold it prints is 20 of 40. It is the first result many candidates see, which is the only reason it is on this list at all.
11. Dump sellers: istqb.guru and the rest
istqb.guru sells a CTFL 4.0 package it calls dumps, advertising a 100% Guaranteed Sure Pass and a 100% Passing Rate, with 320+ questions claimed in one place and 200+ in another, said to be collected from various member boards. ISTQB publishes sample exams; it does not publish its exam questions. So material sold as the real paper is either not the real paper, or it left the exam room with someone, and neither version is something to build a certificate on.
The same pattern dominates outside English. Run these searches in German or Spanish and you get Udemy course listings, app-store apps and PDF downloads promising exam questions and answers; a comparison of practice platforms does not exist in either language.
Which site to use, and when
Three stages, in this order. First the official sets, read slowly, for the wording: ISTQB phrases questions in a particular way and nothing third-party reproduces it exactly. The ISTQB glossary belongs open in a second tab while you do it.
Second, chapter drills on whichever chapter you are weakest in: patshala and practicetestgeeks both split by topic, and so do our own chapter pages. Third, full-length timed mocks until three in a row clear the real bar of 26 of 40, not somebody's 20. That last stage is the one most candidates skip, and it is the one that decides the result.

Frequently asked
Sixty-five per cent of the points, rounded up. For CTFL v4.0 that is 26 of 40 questions. Any practice site that passes you at 20 of 40 is calibrating you fifteen percentage points below the real bar.
The free material is enough for Foundation. The four official sample exam sets, a chapter-level drill and three or four full-length timed mocks cover the ground; nothing in a paid pack is closer to the real exam than the official sets are.
A dump site advertises a passing rate and says its questions come from people who sat the exam. ISTQB publishes sample exams, not exam questions, so anything sold as the real paper either is not, or was taken out of the exam room.
Few do with full-length timed mocks. ExamCaliber covers CTAL-TA, CTAL-TM, CTAL-AT, CT-PT, CT-STE and CT-GenAI as well as CTFL; Mock Exam Network lists the widest catalogue at 27 exams; expandtesting has one CTAL-TA quiz; most of the rest stop at Foundation.
Not that we could find. The same searches in German and Spanish return Udemy course listings, app-store apps and PDF dump downloads, with no comparison page in either language.
Every figure here was read off the site itself on 15 October 2026. The list is rechecked quarterly, because syllabus versions and question counts move.
