Where to Find CTAL-TA, CTAL-TM, CTAL-AT and CT-PT Mock Exams in 2026

Mike K· ISTQB-Certified Tester, ExamCaliber Editorial Team·

Foundation Level has hundreds of mock exams. Advanced Level has almost none. Here is every source with real practice material for CTAL-TA, CTAL-TM, CTAL-AT and CT-PT, with what each one publishes about itself, checked on 5 November 2026.

Search for an ISTQB mock exam and you will drown in results, but almost all of them are Foundation Level. Move one step up, to Test Analyst, Test Management, Agile Tester or Performance Testing, and the supply collapses. Two of the four certifications on this page have exactly one free practice source on the open web besides the official sample exam, and one of them has none at all on most of the sites people recommend.

This article lists every source that actually has practice material for CTAL-TA v4.0, CTAL-TM v3.0, CTAL-AT v2.0 and CT-PT, together with what each provider publishes about itself. Every figure below was read off the provider's own pages on 5 November 2026. Where a page does not state something, this article says so rather than filling the gap with a guess.

Four exams, four different shapes

What separates a useful Advanced Level mock from a pile of questions is length and scoring. These four exams are not interchangeable, and a mock that ignores their shape cannot tell you whether you are ready.

Table of the four ISTQB exams with syllabus version, questions, points, points to pass, minutes and the 25 percent extension

Two consequences follow. First, Advanced Level exams are scored on points, not on questions. A K4 question on CTAL-TA carries three points and a K2 question one, so "51 of 78" is not the same as "answer 33 of the 45 questions". A mock that reports a percentage of questions answered correctly is quietly telling you something other than your exam result. CT-PT is the exception that proves the rule: every CT-PT question weighs exactly one point regardless of its K-level, which is why a flat count is correct there and wrong everywhere else.

Second, ISTQB publishes how many questions each syllabus chapter contributes, and the weighting is lopsided. On CTAL-TA, 22 of the 45 questions come from chapter 3, Test Analysis and Test Design. On CTAL-TM, 26 of 50 come from chapter 1, Managing the Test Activities. On CTAL-AT, 12 of 40 come from chapter 5. On CT-PT, 20 of 40 come from chapter 4, Performance Testing Tasks. A mock that samples a question bank at random will not reproduce that, and you will walk out of the real exam surprised by how much of it sat in one chapter.

1. ExamCaliber: fifteen full-length Advanced papers, free

We built these four banks because nobody else was shipping Advanced Level papers at the real length. Each paper is a full sitting, not a sample:

  • CTAL-TA v4.0: four papers, 45 questions each, 120 minutes, 51 of 78 points to pass.

  • CTAL-TM v3.0: three papers, 50 questions each, 120 minutes, 58 of 88 points.

  • CTAL-AT v2.0: four papers, 40 questions each, 90 minutes, 34 of 52 points.

  • CT-PT: four papers, 40 questions each, 90 minutes, 26 of 40 points.

Across those four banks sit 658 questions and 2,766 answer options, and every single option carries a written rationale, not just the key. That matters more at Advanced Level than at Foundation, because the wrong options are rarely nonsense: they are the right technique applied at the wrong point in the process, or the right quality characteristic belonging to the other role. Knowing why C is wrong is the whole lesson.

Each paper follows the official chapter split exactly, and scoring is by points for CTAL-TA, CTAL-TM and CTAL-AT and flat for CT-PT, matching the official model in each case. Nothing is paywalled and no account is needed. The newest paper is CTAL-TA mock 4; the full catalogue, including the Foundation and specialist certifications, sits on the practice tests page: 49 papers across nine certifications.

2. The official ISTQB sample exams

Free, downloadable without registration, and the only questions on this page written by the people who write the real exam. Start here, always. What exists today:

  • CTAL-TA: one set, sample exam v4.1 dated 8 July 2025, 53 questions: 45 in the main body plus 8 in Appendix A. The v4.1 revision exists for one reason, a corrected answer in the key, so a copy downloaded before July 2025 marks one question wrong. The certification page carries both PDFs.

  • CTAL-TM: two sets. Set A, v1.3.3 of 9 January 2026, 62 questions. Set B, v1.1 of 29 September 2026, 54 questions. Set B is the newest official Advanced Level material of all four certifications, and it makes CTAL-TM the best-supplied exam on this page as far as official practice goes.

  • CTAL-AT: one set, v2.0 of 17 April 2026, 40 questions, exactly the length of the exam. Released the same day as the syllabus; see the CTAL-AT certification page.

  • CT-PT: one set, Set A v1.3 of 15 November 2023, 40 questions.

The limitation is obvious: one sitting, two for CTAL-TM. Once you have read a set you can never sit it cold again. Treat the answers PDF as the real prize: it justifies each option, and that is the closest thing published to the examiners' own reasoning.

3. istqb.guru: free, and covers two of the four

Three sets of 45 questions for CTAL-TA, labelled A, B and C with a 120-minute timer, and two sets of 40 for CTAL-AT. The lengths match the real exams, which is a better quality signal than most sites give you. There is nothing for CTAL-TM and nothing for CT-PT. Every practice exam is marked Beta, all are free, and the site states that no account is needed. It says each answer comes with an explanation but does not say whether wrong options are covered, so treat per-option coverage as unverified. The commercial product is a self-study package listed at $99, down from $199.

One correction to our own earlier coverage: in September we described istqb.guru primarily as a seller of dump-style question packs. As of today its practice exams are free, unmetered and sized to the real papers. Sites change, and this listing reflects what the site shows now.

4. iSQI online mock exams: close to exam day, wrong length

iSQI publishes an online mock for CTAL-TA and one for CTAL-TM. The CTAL-TA mock states 40 questions in 120 minutes, a 65% pass mark and no negative marking. The CTAL-TM mock states 65 questions in 180 minutes with the same pass mark. The real exams are 45 questions in 120 minutes and 50 questions in 120 minutes respectively, so neither mock is the length of the exam it prepares you for, which is worth knowing before you use the score to decide whether to book.

What these pages are genuinely good for is the interface: the CTAL-TA page describes the mock as a reflection of iSQI's own online exam delivery, and sitting one removes the surprise of the real screen. Price, number of attempts, whether answers are explained and which syllabus version is used are not stated on either page. Nothing for CTAL-AT and nothing for CT-PT.

5. Mock Exam Network: the biggest bank, but not a paper

By raw volume this is the largest source on the page: over 1,240 questions for CTAL-TA, 895 for CTAL-TM and over 1,275 for CT-PT. The format is five chapter mocks per certification plus a timed exam simulation where you choose 10, 20, 40 or 60 questions, which means the number you sit is your choice rather than the exam's, and no page states a full-paper count. The base tier is free, with a Premium tier at $5 per month that buys analytics and an ad-free run rather than more questions.

CTAL-AT is missing, and this is the one place on the whole page where it is easy to be fooled: the catalogue does list CTFL-AT v2.0 and CTAL-ATT v1.1, which are the Foundation Level Agile Tester and the Agile Technical Tester, both different certifications and both on the ISTQB retiring list. Syllabus versions are stated for CTAL-TA (v4.0) and CTAL-TM (v3.0) but not for CT-PT.

6. ProcessExam: the only paid set that covers all four

Banks of 405+ questions for CTAL-TA, 520+ for CTAL-TM, 530+ for CTAL-AT and 295+ for CT-PT, sold as two months of unlimited attempts: $41.30 for each of the three Advanced certifications and $27.80 for CT-PT. It is the only commercial option here that leaves no gap across the four, and for CTAL-AT it is the only paid option at all.

Two things to weigh before paying. The free sample is ten questions and returns an answer key alone (a line reading "Question: 01 Answer: c", with no reasoning attached), and no store page or certification page mentions explanations anywhere, so there is no public evidence that the paid product explains anything either. And no syllabus version is stated on any of the four store pages, which on a certification like CTAL-AT, released in April 2026, is the difference between current material and a repackaged older Agile bank.

7. expandtesting, testmocks and the Udemy course packs

Thin at this level, but worth knowing so you do not spend an evening looking for more. expandtesting offers a single free CTAL-TA sample quiz and names syllabus v4.0; the question count, time limit and pass mark are not printed, and CTAL-TM, CTAL-AT and CT-PT are absent entirely. testmocks lists topic-wise CTAL-TA quizzes with no question count, no price in the page body and no syllabus version beyond "latest".

On Udemy, the most substantial listings are an unofficial CTAL-TA v4.0 pack advertising six practice tests and 541 questions (the per-test figures actually add up to 540), and a CTAL-TM course with six tests and 207 questions that states it covers syllabus v3.0. Udemy prices rotate with its permanent discount cycle, so no figure is quoted here; check on the day.

What to skip

Advanced Level attracts dump sites more than Foundation does, because the candidates are senior, in a hurry and often paying their own exam fee. Any page advertising "actual exam questions" or "verified dumps" for CTAL-TA or CTAL-TM is worth avoiding on three separate grounds: using them breaches the ISTQB Code of Ethics you agree to when you sit the exam; the content lags the syllabus by years; and the answer keys are wrong often enough that you will memorise mistakes.

The cheaper filter is the version number. Any CTAL-TA material that does not say v4.0 is suspect right now: v3.1 reaches its non-English sunset on 16 November 2026, eleven days after this article was published, and a lot of recycled content is still aimed at it. The same test applies to CTAL-AT: anything that talks about three chapters and a 13/12/15 split is describing the retiring Foundation Level Agile Tester, not the six-chapter CTAL-AT v2.0.

How to sequence this in the last four weeks

  1. Sit the official sample set first, untimed, with the syllabus open beside you. You only get one clean run at it, so spend it on diagnosis rather than on a score. Keep the answers PDF.

  2. Then drill the chapter that carries the most questions: chapter 3 for CTAL-TA, chapter 1 for CTAL-TM, chapter 5 for CTAL-AT, chapter 4 for CT-PT. A question bank is the right tool here, and this is where Mock Exam Network's volume earns its place.

  3. Finish with full papers under the clock, scored on points, at the official length. Two of those back to back will teach you more about exam day (pacing, when your reading accuracy drops, how long a K4 scenario really takes) than two hundred untimed questions ever will.

If you are still choosing between the Advanced Level exams rather than preparing for one, the CTAL-TA papers are the gentlest entry point of the three, and the CTAL-AT papers are the shortest. Both are free, both run at the real length, and both will tell you within 90 minutes whether the syllabus is further away than you thought.

Frequently asked

Are there free CTAL-TM mock exams anywhere apart from the official sample?

Yes. ExamCaliber has three full 50-question papers, and ISTQB publishes two official sample sets (Set A and Set B). istqb.guru, expandtesting and testmocks do not cover CTAL-TM at all, and ProcessExam's CTAL-TM material is behind a paywall.

How many official sample exams does ISTQB publish for these four certifications?

One set each for CTAL-TA, CTAL-AT and CT-PT, and two for CTAL-TM: Set A (v1.3.3, January 2026) and Set B (v1.1, September 2026). All of them are free downloads with no registration.

Why do CTAL-TA mock exams have different question counts?

The real exam is 45 questions in 120 minutes. iSQI's online mock runs 40 questions, Mock Exam Network lets you choose 10 to 60, and Udemy packs split a bank across six tests. Only the official sample exam, istqb.guru's three sets and ExamCaliber's four papers use 45.

Is a question bank the same thing as a mock exam?

No. A bank tells you how much of the syllabus you have absorbed. A paper at the official length, chapter split and points total tells you whether you would pass. Use the bank for revision and the full paper for rehearsal.

Does CT-PT still have a current syllabus in 2026?

Yes. CT-PT still runs on the v1.0 syllabus from 2018, with one official sample exam (Set A, v1.3, November 2023). No replacement version has been announced by ISTQB.
